Grasscloth is the only type of wallpaper made from organic fibers and plants. As a result, grasscloth wallpaper emits a grassy scent that fills the room with a rich, organic and relaxing vibe. Natural grasscloth is produced from abaca, arrowroot, hemp, plant husks, grass roots, jute, sea grass or tatami.
They are the most expensive type of wallpaper due to the increased labor required to make it. Unlike other wallcoverings, grasscloth is made by hand. This also means that every roll will have a slight color variation even if it’s the exact same pattern. No two grasses are 100% alike. There will be visible seams, however, this is part of the of natural beauty this type of wallpaper brings. Note: do not get natural grasscloth confused with faux grasscloth wallpaper. They look alike but one is real and the other is meant to imitate the real thing.
